A nice bucking fush quote from the gov ::

President George W. Bush discusses the Global War on Terror during an address to the Reserve Officers Association Friday, Sept. 29, 2006. “This is the call of a generation, to stand against the extremists and support moderate leaders across the broader Middle East, to help us all secure a future of peace,” said the President. White House photo by Eric Draper

ummmm, waging war in the name of peace?? haven’t we been through that before? did it ever actually work?

by the way typing “failure” into the search box and clicking I’m feeling lucky, produces a humorous result and a convienent shortcut to the above quoted information.

ps:
Apparently there is the curse that says that no President elected in a zero year (e.g. 1960, 1980, 2000) will survive office. It has been true for 200 years, with the exception of Reagan, who survived an assassination attempt.

SLOW DANCE

September 18, 2006
@ 6:45 / 6:45 am

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask “How are you”?
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done
!Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Ever told your child,
“We’ll do it tomorrow”?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,”Hi”

You’d better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift….
Thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

humility, gentleness, humbleness… strength within softness… a soft expression of strength.
Is there room for these qualities in arrogance? in confidence?

policy update

I just emerged last week from a short venture into silence and pseudo-solitude. It only lasted about 4 days, and already it was facinating and nearly more profound than my typical everyday realization that i have feet and hands that can walk and touch and a nose that can enjoy roses and jasmin and curry and rice and sweat and woman… etc etc…

It really is most every day that i am struck by some aspect of utter amazement at this temple of a body in which i dwell and I dwells…

I am on a bit of a decision and control trip these days… (more…)

starting some peace waves

“I am that I am,” said nothingness to his sister. And when she agreed, it seemed that suddenly they were. And things have been seeming to come into being ever since then. Isn’t it fantastic? Aren’t you amazingly happy and thankful to hold this glimmer of a chance to create.
I AM.
Thank you for being, and thank you for sharing!

Ok so who exactly is nothingness’ sister???

Is the uploading of consciousness possible and feasible?

August 10, 2006
@ 6:16 / 6:16 am

From my perspective the universally Simple answer - it depends:
if you go about it with physics as the basis of action - NO.
if you manage to free your consciousness from your body and remain metaphysically intact, then YES, you can dwell in any vessel.

For example one can move one’s true self into a rock and feel the signals that this vessel has to offer… perhaps not as rich a set of signals (more…)

reason for hope

August 8, 2006
@ 3:55 / 3:55 am

OK, fair enough, there seem to be alot of “coma-zombies” walking the planet. In all fairness, it may well be a sliding scale… or a series of sliding, sliding scales…

The thing is, its pretty easy to get all bummed and weirded out and alienated and driven into some tiny little box… safe as all hell(ish illusion)…

i HOPE that we can all manage to avoid THAT easy way out! Here we are. Existing right now. Capable to see the status. Motivated to do our part.

Ummm, our part in what?

Well I don’t know about you, but i feel a great responsibility when i hear the (by now nearly banal) phrase:
“Our children do not inherit the earth from us, we are so blessed to be permitted to borrow it from them”
i guess the underlying implication that we seem to find it so easy to ignore is rather banal as well by now:
“Please note: they may like it a little better if there was a little food left over to eat and some clean resources around to work with…”

Responsibility? for what?

Each of us must find our deepest source of inspiration and therein find our deepest responsibility and from there, let our strongest motivation flow.

flesh factory

May 31, 2006
@ 17:00 / 5:00 pm

Over at gf’s lanterna magica is an interesting exploration of a conversation based on an idea that came to me… “the flesh factory”

in this world of perpetual compromise, where we seem quite compelled to eat meat even if less than 2% of us have ever had experiences killing the animals we eat, perhaps a solution that entails less animal suffering and equal carnal (or at least close to equal) could be at least interesting if not advantageous.

Of course it is quite possible that our collective consciousness will transcend our spiritually infantile, obviously animalistic, desires to indulge in consuming meat. It is possible that this will occur before the technology to support the flesh factory is operational. It is possible that we will slow down our reproduction and increase of food production and decrease our polution rates enough to sustain life on this planet for another 100 years.

As always…
Other things are also possible…

PS - over at the Living Universe Foundation email list is a parallel topic:
