Healing :: Why
Because everyone feels a little off sometimes, everyone looses some perspective now and again, everybody can appreciate a soft (or hard), fluid (or poignant), embracing massage now and again, and everybody can use some attention to help us feel more whole.
Now before you rebel against that statement with an “I’m already whole. I’m fine. I don’t need anything to make me feel whole”, perhaps you want to take a look at why you may have felt the urge to rebel, if you even did, that is.
What is wholeness anyway? There exists in this space a chance for what many people like to call a state of oneness. We as humans ALL have the capacity to enjoy this state of being. We use many strategies and activities to seek this state… to encourage ourselves to receive this state… to convince ourselves that we deserve it… that we are good enough (moral living) or have worked hard enough (discipline) or are free enough from our traumas (therapy and event re-visitation {rebirthing, drama, etc}) or that we are healthy enough (diets and nutrient supplements) or chemically intoxicated enough (psychedelics) or physically flexible enough (body yoga)…etc…etc…etc…
What we seek we already have. And I know that if one more yahoo tells you that when you don’t feel it, you just may spit. And that’s fine. Everyone should feel free to spit until they don’t want to anymore. “Suffer while you can” that’s what I say.
The world is on the way to being a very different place. We change faster than we can keep track of change. Soon enough we won’t really have the capacity to suffer. WHAT? You may exclaim… But I like my suffering, and more so I like the attention that talking about my suffering brings me. But I don’t admit those things. Actually I may not even acknowledge them enough to devote some time to deciding if I want to admit to them.
Once again, I say, “Suffer while you can.” And enjoy it. I know I do.
But what about my quest for enlightenment (this state of bliss and total lack of suffering) ??
What about my painful vipasana exercises and my rigid self-discipline?
What about my….
What about my me? Will it go away if it wills itself to go away? Will the ego disappear if I do…
I don’t know and I can’t know. You don’t know and you can’t know. So we might as well stop behaving like we have half a clue and start enjoying the dynamic chaotic mess that we swim through every moment of every day. And we might as well accept that enlightenment is most likely a never ending process of spiritual uplifting that goes through as many twists and turns as a molecule of rain water filtering down through the tree leaves and through the earth on its way back to the ocean…
I think if you can embrace the idea that enlightenment is a perpetual _process_ that includes visiting MANY states of consciousness, then you are enlightened “enough”.
Healing :: What and How
A healing experience with Joshua is a very personalized experience that can take place in any number of settings. Joshua is trained, practiced, and experienced in many named healing techniques or methods (including reiki, acupressure, soft touch, shamanism, breathwork, yoga, and meditation {taoist, kabbalist, yogic and other traditions}) and extremely unattached to specific methods and completely free from paperwork (uncertified).
Joshua works with the principles of minimal effective dosage, energy follows attention, success is self-defined and connected intuition. Each principle manifests in many ways, following are some simple examples:
minimal effective dosage
Massage with Joshua is not a physically intensive workout designed to visit every anatomical crevice with deep tissue pressure. Massage with Joshua is mostly soft, gentle, and energetic where firm precise physical pressure is used as a means to capture attention and guide breath.
energy follows attention
Most physical, mental and emotional “problems” are due to energy imbalances, blockages, and deconstructive repetitive energy cycles and behavior patterns. Intelligence focuses attention… energy flow follows. Healing results when we use our attention to guide energy to flow more productively in our lives.
success is self-defined
Working together is important to the “success” of a healing session. Communicating about needs and wants and issues and problems and concerns (and learning to distinguish between all these words and use them productively) is a primary goal of any verbal communication within (or in preparation for) a session. An even more important primary goal is to remove ourselves from a goal-oriented approach. As we embrace our existence as an eternal progression of processes, we can learn to bring ourselves closer to each moment of nowness within the process.
connected intuition
It is very important that we recognize the feebleness of our intelligence and rely on our innate connection to a much greater, even infinite source of wisdom and grace. Each session will include direct action to coordinate our intentions and wills with the brilliance of collective intelligence at what ever scale seems appropriate, from nanometers (think small) to googleplexes (think big)… Our connection and trust will guide a beautiful and inspiring healing experience.
