Kahlil Gibran read by gotjosh

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, “Speak to us of
Children.”

And he said:

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit,
not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you
with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;

For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that
is stable.

Wildlife

Just now i supported an initiate from http://www.defenders.org/
i added the following little words:

America is so vast… our borders so wide… our fears so great… our courage so profound. Our priorities, so often skewed. We can cast away that which we don’t understand, so easily. We can invade lands that are being used responsibly by other organisms. Please find respect for the animals of our fine land… please help to set precedent that we want to coexist peacefully rather than dominate relentlessly.

i urge you to help all you can with proactive internet political interventions… and any other ways that you can find to let the voice of the earth and the voice of love be heard!

Carbon Offsets

from EathTrends : Offsets Alone Are Not Enough

The retail carbon offset market is growing rapidly as explained in A Consumers Guide to Retail Carbon Offset Providers. Along with the Tufts Climate Initiative report, this publication is one of the first methodological attempts to provide the public with accurate information concerning retail carbon offsets and the companies that provide them. The authors estimate that for less than $100 a year, most Americans can offset their personal GHG footprint. However, it stresses that consumers should first reduce their carbon emissions by driving less, using smaller vehicles, buying energy efficient appliances and using less electricity. They suggest that if a consumer purchases carbon offset services, they should do so in combination with reducing overall energy use. The surest way to reduce your impact on the climate is to reduce emissions yourself.

Is Mother Earth worth 3% of global economic productivity by 2030

apparently US officials say that stabilizing CO2 emissions (around 535ppm) sufficiently to prevent more than a 2 degree temperature increase could lead to a global recession: “no world leader will pursue a strategy that would lead to economic recession.”

I wonder if that is really true? i wonder if the people of this world will see that if we want the concept of economic prosperity to continue to exist, we are rather dependent on an environment that is supportive of life… we are required to find better balance with our environment. It is not an option. It is not an economic trade off. Either we decide to find a gentle balance or we will face strife and natural disasters and repercussions stemming from over consumption and over combustion… It is simple and obvious.
