http://www.clean-air.org/As a constituent, a supporter of Defenders of Wildlife and someone who cares about protecting wildlife and promoting real energy solutions, I strongly urge you to oppose any legislation that would dramatically expand oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
Earlier this year, the Senate passed legislation that would open up as much as eight million new acres in the Gulf of Mexico to harmful oil and gas drilling (S. 3711). Now it’s your turn to weigh in on this bill.
The pollution and increased ship traffic that comes with new drilling could be disastrous for sea turtles, whales, dolphins and other wildlife in the area. Worse, it represents yet another hand-out to big oil companies, rather than the forward-looking, environmentally sustainable energy policy that our country deserves.
I urge you to oppose this bill and support real solutions to America’s energy needs, such as increased fuel efficiency and new innovation in clean, renewable energy sources.
