policy update
I just emerged last week from a short venture into silence and pseudo-solitude. It only lasted about 4 days, and already it was facinating and nearly more profound than my typical everyday realization that i have feet and hands that can walk and touch and a nose that can enjoy roses and jasmin and curry and rice and sweat and woman… etc etc…
It really is most every day that i am struck by some aspect of utter amazement at this temple of a body in which i dwell and I dwells…
I am on a bit of a decision and control trip these days… which means i am becoming more aware of the powerful impact our little decisions have in our perception of our environment and even the subtle and often seriously strong influence these little decisions have in controlling the way that our environment presents itself to us…
For hints about the nature of this trip you can check out: The Secret and What the Bleep and Baraka and…
This awareness has led me to develop some new policies::
#1 - I make no contract to answer any communication
#2 - I endeavor wholeheartedly to construct an environment of love and virtue around myself
#3 - I guard my attention with careful discernment and sharp focus
Perhaps these oversimplified policies could use some clarification:
#1 - I prefer communication in the following media :
- Direct Eye to Eye Silent Transmission
- Face to Face Verbal and body language
- Written Communication (most convienent with email)
- Mobile Text Messages aka. sms
- Telephone Conversation (YUK!)
More and more people are bugging out about mobile phones and the physical dangers. I am convinced that they are only vaguely more dangerous than driving a car in New York City… and that is definitely something that i choose NOT to do everyday.
Check out Safe Wireless Initiative if you feel like starting an investigation.
For me, the physical danger is not nearly half as bad as the psychic danger about paying attention to a broken voice of a being who is not currently in my physical sphere of influence. Of course the occational long distance call on a land line can be great! However, it is especially frustrating for me to speak on the phone for more than 30-90 seconds with people who are in the same city as me… WE CAN MEET SO EASILY!!! Lets save some brain cells and use these cancer cannons as sparingly as possible. So if i don’t answer a mobile call, you can try a nice concise SMS… and if i don’t answer that, you can try out your intuition and come find me :-) (or take the hint ;-) but i hope you don’t take it personally… we all have to decide what to pay attention to, and sometimes the leaf on the tree that i can reach out and touch may be more important than the mobile phone that i left at home unplugged! If we happened to reach out for the same leaf, i imagine i would be over joyed to share that moment with YOU… and if a phone call means something different to you than it does to me, i trust we can accomodate that difference with ease. So I don’t want to say never, but if we talk on the phone for long, please consider it an exception rather than an open invitation to “flap”.

What is love?
What is virtue?
What are you?
What am I?
How can we possibly be all that we can be?
I did say endeavor… right?
#3
Simply put, what we pay attention to grows. We can use perception, thought, words and actions, to feed the infinite manifest entities with our attention… in obvious gradients of specificity, strength and power.
What are you feeding these days?

It is polite and kind and loving to answer when spoken to…

I have giant pods that are capable of growing unlimited housing for a 3rd world country.
They will only be “fertile” for a short while.

Can you do anything with them?
